Many congratulations to Hannah and Clarke Stockman who recently got married in Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Belfast followed by a fantastic reception in the Slieve Donard Hotel in Newcastle County Down.  Thanks very much to the pair of them for letting me Photograph and Video their wedding.  It was a super day.  Pics will be amazin!

Congratulations to Grace and Connor Deehan

Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Connor and Grace Deehan who were married on the 26th June 2010. 

It was a pleasure working with the couple on their big day which was held in the Long Tower Chapel in Derry followed by a magnificent reception and evenings entertainment in the Ballyliffin Hotel in County Donegal.

Seanna and Aaron's Harley Kiss

Congratulations to Aaron and Seanna.  Just finished a great photoshoot at the Lamon Hotel and Country Club.  It was a beautiful sunny day, ( nightmare for photographers!) and a great time was had by all. 

There was a special visit by Mr Sooty ( check him out at mrsooty.com ).  He arrived with a lovers blessing with his chimney sweep brushes, bicycle and top hat.  Something different for a change!  Photos from the wedding will be available in my portfolio section of http://www.emdweddings.co.uk/ within the next 2 weeks.  Ed.

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Hopps

Big congratulations to Angie and Melvin Hopps. Their big day was fantastic. Really enjoyed myself and got some super shots.

The day started with a hectic photo session in Angie's mums house followed up by service at Eglantine Parish Church and reception at Calandeboye Lodge Hotel.

Tips for Choosing your wedding photographer

With so much excitement leading up to your big day, you need to take the time and choose the right wedding Photographer and Videographer.  There are many cowboys out there.  Here are some tips that will help you. 

Experience Level - Has this person photographed other weddings? Does he/she do this for a living or for fun?

Albums - Ask to see a real album.  Not an album full of "best shots".  ALso if possible ask to see an album that has been done when it is raining!  Sounds strange, but anybody can take great shots on a good day.  You will see how good the photographer is inside and under pressure with poor lighting conditions.

Photographic Style - Are the images that you are shown, what you would like to see? There are "buzz" words flying about everywhere about photojournalism, formal, classic candid, and so on. Do you want a mixture of black and white or only colour photos?

Truth in Advertising - Is this the photographer that will be photographing your wedding or will they send in whomever is available. Don't be shocked, this happens more often than you can imagine. Be certain that you know which photographer is going to be there and that you see HIS/HER work and meet with that individually face to face.

Personality - Is the photographer that you meet someone that you can get along with? Is the "chemistry" there?

Price Range - Although, the last thing you want to do is shop by price, is this person within your budget? If not, is he or she worth the price difference? Make sure you understand what everything costs, including reprints and albums.

Delivery - How long does it take to get your proofs back, thank you cards, your finished album, your bridal portrait, etc.?

Offering - Whether it's a la carte or a package, do you understand what you are getting? Is there any room for changes and will it cost to do so? Sometimes the packages are fixed, sometimes they can be customized, in any case, ask. How much time will he/she spend? What if you need more time? Make sure that you know what's coming.

References - A personal reference is always the best and people love to talk. Get a list of references from the photographer and check them out personally. A photographer who doesn't have references or is afraid to give them to you may not be the person that you need to hire.
